Kareena decides to capitalise on ‘Bebo’!

Just recently, Kareena Kapoor was appointed as the brand ambassador for Laive handbags. One thing that the company noticed is that since the leggy damsel was signed on, the sales picked up. In response to this sudden rise in sales, the company has decided to come up with a special edition of the bag.

The said special edition will be titled Bebo, after the actress’s nickname. Currently, the actress is in talks regarding the bag line. As there are multiple aspects that need to be considered like the selling and marketing as well as Kareena’s involvement including her remuneration. As for the clutches, they will be a high- end collection in gold, silver, beige and black and will bear her signature.

Will Kat and Bebo get hitched by 2012?

The ‘M’ word is still banned in current interviews with Kareena Kapoor. Mention marriage and Bollywood’s numero uno actress promptly clams up.

During Diwali last year, when she did those Golmaal-3  interviews though, the actress readily admitted that she would marry in 2012. There is ample proof of that in print.

As things stand today, Kareena’s films with the five Khans would have released latest by the summer of 2012. And though the actress is still hinting that she will be available to filmmakers like Rohit Shetty and Madhur Bhandarkar, it is more likely that she will give a nod to marriage before 2012 draws to an end. In the past, when she didn’t shy away from talking about marriage, Kareena has said, “Saif will marry me the day I say I am ready.” Saif in vulnerable moments has also confessed that he is ‘on standby’ and is just waiting for his lady love to say the magic word.

The other super-hot Bollywood diva, who is reportedly ready to tie the knot if Ranbir Kapoor proposes, is Katrina Kaif. A source says, “Ranbir’s playboy image definitely precedes him. But it is safe to say that for the moment Kat has him hooked. Their holidays overseas are becoming frequent. And their public display of affection on flights and functions is now there for the people to see.”

While media reports spoke of Kat and Ranbir cosying up on an international flight, television cameras also caught Kat blowing a kiss to RK Junior when he was on stage at an awards night. An actor who observed Kat’s unguarded action, said, “Not only did she break into peals of laughter watching Ranbir’s antics on stage, at one point she couldn’t contain her excitement and even blew him a kiss.”

Unless Kareena or Katrina develop the runaway bride syndrome (like two senior actresses did) on the eve of their marriage, Bollywood could lose these two top divas to the institution next year.

Bebo has no time for Saif on V-Day

Saif Ali Khan will have buffaloes for company today, while the rest of the world celebrates Valentine’s Day. 

The actor is busy shooting in Bhopal for Prakash Jha’s Aarakshan and will not be spending quality time with his ladylove Kareena. 

But turns out, Saif was given one day off on Saturday before this particular shooting schedule began. Sure enough, Saif flew back to Mumbai on Saturday just so he could be with Bebo. 

But luck was not in favour. Bebo was busy rehearsing that day for an awards function. 

A disheartened Saif flew back to Bhopal to resume shooting. Everyone from the Big B to Manoj Bajpai was given Saturday off with strict instructions to be back in time for the shooting schedule. 

Prakash Jha said, “It is a very complicated climax. We cannot afford distractions. Love and Valentine’s Day can wait.” Sorry Saif, cêst la vie!

Bebo to pay tribute to Sridevi

Kareena Kapoor is busy rehearsing matching her steps to Sridevi’s dance numbers. Well the actress is going to perform at the Balaji Awards tomorrow. 

Getting into Sridevi’s dancing shoes is indeed a tough job. Kareena is seen sweating it out at the rehearsals these days. 

According to a source, Bebo will be seen sporting looks that Sridevi sported in her films and dance numbers. Designer Manish Malhotra has designed her costumes for the act at the Balaji Awards. 

Hope Bebo doesn’t get cold feet as dancing Diva, Sridevi will be watching her keenly at award function.

Bebo to perform at National Games?

The opening ceremony of the 34th National Games here Feb 12 will see either Kareena Kapoor or Priyanka Chopra take part, while Katrina Kaif will perform at the closing ceremony Feb 27, an official said Saturday. 

“We have awarded Cineyug contract for opening and closing ceremonies. In the opening ceremony, either Kareena or Priyanka Chopra will take part and Katrina Kaif will take part in the closing ceremony,” a senior official told us. 

“Cineyug has been awarded contract of Rs.10.50 crore and taxes will be paid in addition to it. Singer Sukhvinder will take part in the opening ceremony and ‘Big Boss 4′ winner Shweta Tiwari will be the anchor of the opening ceremony,” the official added. 

The closing ceremony will also see a performance by singer Shan. 

President Pratibha Patil is likely to be chief guest at the opening ceremony here.

Bebo gets food poisoned

Kareena Kapoor got food poisoned during her recent stint in Pune. Bollywood’s numero uno actress is shooting in Pune with Salman Khan and was laid up in bed with a nagging stomach ache and fever. 

A concerned Saif Ali Khan who is in Bhopal for the outdoor shoot of Aarakshan was constantly on the hotline with Bebo’s family doctor RK Agarwal. 

He wanted the general physician to drive to Pune and check on Bebo. The actress of course is distressed that she lost two days lying in bed.

Bebo says Saif is lucky for her

Kareena Kapoor’s new year started off with a bang. Not only did she spend it with beau Saif Ali Khan in Gstaad, Switzerland, but she also has exciting projects lined up.

And she can’t thank Saifu enough for it. “He is very lucky for me. I trust his instincts. I talk to him before taking on anything,” she says. 

That is rich praise indeed. Kareena will be part of four releases in 2011- Ra.One with Shah Rukh Khan, Reema Kagti’s next film with Aamir, Agent Vinod with Saif and Bodyguard with Salman.

Priyanka blasts Bebo!

Mercifully these two don’t pretend to be friends. Of course, when asked direct questions about each other, Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra — who bonded during Aitraaz and fell out over Shahid Kapoor — normally say innocuous things like, “Oh, we have no issues with each other. Blah, blah…” 

But the fact remains that they do have very strong issues. And these came to the fore recently when Kareena bared her fangs on a talk show and said, “I wonder where Priyanka got her accent from?” Not to be outdone, Priyanka who is coming on the same show shortly with none other than Shahid Kapoor, had people at the shoot in splits when she said, “I want to tell Kareena that I got my accent from the same place where her boyfriend ( Saif Ali Khan) got his.” PC reminded the show host (and all those who tune in) that she, too, had studied overseas and therefore had access to an accent just like so many others in Bollywood. 

Of course, having been given the opportunity to take a dig at Bebo, Piggy Chops wasn’t going to let the opportunity pass with just one direct hit. Later, PC made it known to the host that people in the industry didn’t take Kareena too seriously. “I’m flattered that Kareena thinks I am a good actress,” she is said to have remarked. “But otherwise I don’t think people take Bebo too seriously,” is what PC reportedly said. 

And she hit one final nail when she was asked what she would steal from computers of Bollywood superstars like Shah Rukh Khan, Shahid, Kareena and others. Known for her smart alec replies, PC giggled, “Does Kareena have a computer in the first place?” Hmmm… one can see round two of this cat fight happening soon.

Madhur drops film with Bebo

Bhandarkar drops his film with Kareena Kapoor as she was suggesting too many changes in the script. 

Fed up with the changes Kareena Kapoor was constanty suggesting for the script, Madhur Bhandarkar has now shelved his film Heroine. Kareena, who apparently thought her role in the film was a bit too controversial, kept insisting it be altered. Madhur refused to change the script but Kareena wouldn’t budge either. Finally, Madhur dropped the idea of making the film. 

Grapevine has it that Kareena was not keen to sign Heroine since the film is loosely based on the life of Marilyn Monroe, who was reportedly involved with both the Kennedy brothers, who were married at the time. Given her own relationship with Saif Ali Khan, who has been married earlier, Kareena seemingly wanted to stay away from this role. 

You wonder if Madhur approached any other actresses for the role, as reported earlier. Says a source, No. Madhur approached only Kareena. She kept him waiting for six months. Now, Madhur has completely lost interest in the film. 

The decision to shelve Heroine was apparently taken last week.It was not an easy decision.There was a lot of yes and no between Madhur and his team. However, they finally decided to do away with it, says the source. 

Though Bhandarkar remained unavailable for comment, he has apparently taken to writing a male dominated script that he will work on after Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji. Tired of women and their nakhraas, eh Madhur.

PC beats Ash, Bebo

Desi girl’ Priyanka Chopra has beaten off competition from fellow Bollywood beauties Aishwarya Rai and Kareena Kapoor to bag the title of the most kissable star.

The 28-year-old actress who became an instant pin-up with her turn in a gold bikini for ‘Dostana’ topped the survey conducted by a men’s magazine.

“It was a close run but Priyanka Chopra’s bee-stung lips made her a perfect candidate to top this list,” said the magazine about the winning candidate.

Aishwarya who is riding high with the success of Rajinikanth starrer ‘Robot’ came second while Kareena Kapoor grabbed the third spot.

Bollywood’s favourite Bengali beauty Bipasha Basu came fourth and Katrina Kaif rounded off the top five.

‘Aisha’ star Sonam Kapoor occupied the sixth spot and Mallika ‘Hiss’ Sherawat was the seventh entry on the list.

Kajol, Bebo are family: KJo

It would be impossible for Karan Johar to choose between the two Ks — Kajol and Kareena Kapoor. He has known Kajol for 26 years now, and like he says, “We’ve grown up together.”

As for Kareena, he has known her for around 15 years but theirs is a relationship beyond time. “My father (Yash Johar) was very fond of both Kajol and Kareena. After I made Kabhie Alvida Na Kehna, he had immediately asked me to make another film with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. He loved Kajol as an actress. As for Kareena, he had a permanent smile on his face when she was shooting Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham with us because she invariably said the funniest things.” Of course, it doesn’t end there. As Karan puts it, even his mother (Hiroo Johar) has a one-on-one relationship with the girls — Kajol, Kareena and Rani Mukerji. “Unfortunately, I don’t have any siblings. Bebo and Kajol are the girls I grew up with. And I invariably think that if I had siblings they should ideally be a perfect amalgamation of Kajol and Kareena in personality and looks.”

Karan laughs and adds, “Bebo with all her madness is a person with the warmest heart; and Kajol for all her moodiness is the most solid person that I know.” Of course, while he admits that WAF wouldn’t have happened but for these two women of substance, he also is all praise for his hero Arjun Rampal, who he has observed over the years. “His is the talked about evolution from a model to a star-actor,” says Karan. He also feels that Arjun who has been growing from performance to performance has now come into his own as an actor. “And we’re all proud of him. He is the only National Award-winner on board though we have two of the most talented actresses in there.”

Karan is grateful to Arjun for saying yes to the film without much ado and he feels that though Arjun started out winning notices for his good looks, off late, he has been getting accolades for all his performances from Rock On to Raajneeti.”Arjun is a warm guy, a personal friend and of course, like I said, a guy whose evolution as a star-actor is something that makes me happy and proud.”

Bebo is also a big foodie like me: Arjun

She is known to be a stickler for fitness and actress Kareena Kapoor also gets her co-stars hooked on to yoga. Her latest convert is her ‘We Are family’ co-star Arjun Rampal.

The actor said that the 29-year-old actress is a strict disciplinarian when it comes to working out.

“You can’t work with Kareena and not do yoga. It is a given that you will have to include it in your fitness regime. She makes sure that you work out and keep fit,” said Rampal.
The 37-year-old actor was in the capital on Tuesday with the actress, who plays his girlfriend in the film. The stars, who have been paired together for the first time, have also developed a bond off-screen.

“We were stuck in a convertible for 16 hours together, while the crew were taking shots from choppers. Had it been with anybody else, we would have probably killed ourselves, but Kareena was very entertaining,” said Rampal.

“Kareena has been a complete revelation after this film. We have a lot of things in common. She is also a foodie like me,” he added. The actor is all praises about Kareena’s acting skills as well.

“Kareena is in very good form at this point of her acting career, just like Sachin Tendulkar at his peak in cricket or Raphael Nadal in tennis. Her portrayal of the character is fantastic in every scene of the film,” said Rampal.

Bebo’s Swiss kiss for Saif!

She had planned this as a surprise for her beau almost eight months ago. Saif Ali Khan turns 40 tomorrow, and Kareena Kapoor had decided to gift him a destination birthday.

So she’s purchased first class tickets, booked a Swiss Chalet-type accommodation and has literally whisked him away from friends and family. For once Bebo isn’t too keen to talk about their private holiday. “It’s Saif’s 40th birthday… very special. And I wanted to give him a birthday to remember,” is all she said.

They have just returned from London, where she was shooting for RA One and he was vacationing first with his children —Sarah and Ibrahim, and then with the Kapoors.

Both actors dashed into Mumbai for some individual promotional activities. And after a breathtaking 48-hour schedule, during which Kareena dubbed for two films, did interviews for We Are Family, released a book and shot for a reality show, they were back in the air.

Saif said, “Forty doesn’t feel any different. I’m looking forward to some exciting work. And I’m happy that my girlfriend is giving me this very special vacation.” As she put their passports into the outer pocket of her limited edition designer bag, Bebo added, “I’ve been asked whether I have bought him any other gifts this birthday. Honestly, I haven’t. The time I spend with him in Switzerland is my gift to him.”

Bebo, Saif go house hunting.

It’s got nothing to do with the sky-high prices of real estate in Bandra west. But, the top storey flats in the upcoming apartment opposite the landmark building Fortune Heights is selling at more of a premium than penthouses elsewhere in the area.

The reason? Fortune Heights is where Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan live. They have an apartment on the 10th floor. And Saif’s production house has its office on the second. Now the wily builder of the building across is rumoured to be looking at a “good price” for the flats that overlook Bollywood’s most celebrated couple’s living room!

When Saif bought the penthouse, it was one of the most coveted properties in the area. The actor, who lived in Versova, took a lot of time selecting this apartment. He also bought a huge office on the second floor. Then, Kareena moved in. However, as is the case in every bylane of Mumbai, suddenly there is another tall building across the road. And Saif and Kareena are seriously house-hunting again.

Bebo, who didn’t know too many details of the opposite building, said, “Saif and I love our current home. It has a very good vibe. But, yes, I can see other buildings have suddenly cropped up. And at some point our privacy may be compromised. So we are looking at buying a bungalow in and around Bandra. It’s hard to find the kind of home that Saif has in mind. He wants a very English-styled villa!” If they don’t find that, the next best thing to do would be to buy the top storey flats in the building opposite!

Bebo going back to Size Zero.

Everything about the project is under wraps right now. But if there is one recent film announcement that has got Bollywood truly excited it is the news of Kareena Kapoor teaming up with today’s poster boy Imran Khan.

Bollywood is happy that there will be one more star pair for them to market. Yes, these very good-looking actors have been signed by Karan Johar for his Short Term Shaadi, a film that is reportedly on the lines of the Cameron Diaz-Ashton Kutcher romcom What Happened in Vegas.

A source says that the film is likely to go on the floors in the month of November 2010. And Karan and his core team have been in closed-door meetings about the look of the characters, the locations, costumes, etc.

While Imran said, “I’m not at liberty to discuss anything about the film right now.” Kareena too has been vowed to secrecy by the creative team. However, it is being said that Karan has reportedly asked Bebo to lose weight again. BT managed to get some inside details. A source said, “It is ironical. Kareena had just started eating to look slightly rounded because her boyfriend Saif Ali Khan is tired of her looking like a clothes hanger.”

The actress herself had confessed, “Saif likes my butt,” and got a lot of rebuttal from the press for “talking like that”. So she had immediately backed off. But the bottom line is Bebo had actually altered her diet. She was eating well and just when she was sinking her teeth into more wholesome food, news comes that Karan wants her to lose weight again and get back to being size zero.

The actress has also been asked to apparently go in for a shorter haircut by the end of October because she has to match the light-eyed Imran perfectly. Will Kareena oblige? While she is not at liberty to talk to the press about Short Term Shaadi, one thing is sure — Bebo will comply with whatever Karan wants her to do. She has that killer instinct, and if she has to drop a size or two for a role, she will gladly do so. Saif, we guess, will have to be patient once again!

My weight becomes a national crisis: Bebo

When she got into size zero, it became pandemic. Now that she’s inching her weight into a slightly healthier scale, we’re guessing many will be relieved of the gruelling agony of getting waif thin. That’s why she’s Kareena Kapoor, the industry’s number one actress today.

And that’s precisely why everything she does becomes a national fad. While she’s here, she can even take failure with a pinch of salt. In an interaction, Kareena spoke of why weight is so central to the Indian conversation, and why, at her stage she can afford to take a not-so-successful film also in her stride.

“Weight is a natural and national crisis in our country. It is so important to our being. Haven’t you noticed, that’s why the subject keeps creeping up in every conversation,” she adds candidly. Visibly tired and sounding throaty, the lady says, “I am just back from a trip to Morocco. I haven’t slept for three days, that’s why my voice is gone now,” she manages.

Now while she didn’t explain the details of her trip – personal or professional – Bebo did tells us that professionally, she’s past mulling over failure. “When you are successful, failure is acceptable. And if you have success, you shouldn’t be scared of failing.” Whether this is a hint at the actress’ recent debacle with the film Milenge Milenge, that didn’t quite take off with the audiences, we don’t know because at this point she’d rather not talk about the film outright.

Grateful to her dad for encouraging both Karishma and her to work, thereby breaking the hitherto held archetype of a daughter from the Kapoor khandan, Kareena also attributes her success to the changing paradigm in Bollywood. “Indian films are becoming more women centric, which is a good thing and gives actresses great exposure,” she states, “actors are like scientists. They experiment with their films. Some experiments are good, some go awry.” Speaking of a woman centric industry, Kareena is excited about her forthcoming venture Herione, that she claims, “Will be a hard hitting film.”

Glad that she didn’t quite follow her initial ambition of becoming a lawyer, Kareena admits its tough living up to expectations once someone gets to her position, and also because there is a family name riding on you. “It’s very difficult to prove yourself especially if you are a star kid. There was a time in between while I was growing up, for about a year that I wanted to become a lawyer. But I soon realized it was not my area and I ran away from there. Now, even if the film industry gets rough sometimes, I am glad of my achievement. Karishma and I are the first siblings in the industry to have tasted so much success,” she says widening her eyes.

For all those thinking, like her weight, is her flawless skin also a result of hard work, that’s one thing she denies forthright, “It’s all in your genes. I am just plain lucky.”

Bebo Ranbir want to act together?

The race is on in Bollywood between filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala and director Rohit Jugraj to see who can get Kareena Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor in a film together first.

The fact that the two cousins, Bollywood’s hottest properties, cannot romance each other on screen has gone down very well indeed with Imran Khan — the new sensation after the success of I Hate Luv Storys. Exploiting the situation, Imran began an ‘I Love Bebo’ campaign that has worked, and the young actor is already signed on to do a film for Karan Johar opposite Kareena. But there is hope for the cousins, yet.

Sajid Nadidwala, whose Anjaana Anjaani Kareena had to opt out of because it starred Ranbir, is planning a film with the two. “We don’t have to think of a romantic pair all the time. There are so many wonderful films where the lead pair is not romantically involved, like Kamal Haasan and Sridevi in Sadma and Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore in Amar Prem,” said Sajid.

And there’s Rohit Jugraj who is currently writing a script called Cousins which he has designed specially for Kareena and Ranbir. At the moment, all he will reveal is that it’s the story of first cousins who get together to fight for a common cause. Kareena had once said, “I would like to work with Ranbir. He is so talented. I know we can work magic together. But he is my brother. How can I star opposite him? Maybe it was never meant to be.” But, in Bollywood you never say never…

Bebo-Shahid look like in love.

It is not Bebo-Shahid, but recession that delayed Milenge Milenge says director Satish Kaushik whose film releases today.

Why Milenge Milenge after so long?
The movie went on floors in 2005 and was slated for a 2007 release but unforeseen circumstances delayed the movie a bit but it is as fresh as it was then. Milenge Milenge is not an ancient film, it’s a youth centric film on subject of love, which never goes out of fashion. There are so many movies which are lying completed but can never see the light of a release as they can’t find producers and backers. Luckily Milenge Milenge is not one of them.

Is the Kareena-Shahid break up the ‘unforeseen circumstance’?
No, not at all. Kareena, Shahid are thorough professionals. They have supported the film throughout. In fact, if their break up had been a reason for delay, they would not have come and done the promos and shoots for us.

Milenge Milenge is a love story which is releasing late. Do you think the audience will be able to connect with it?
Love stories never go out of vogue. Milenge Milenge is a passionate romance and Bebo Shahid’s chemistry is sizzling in it. Their performance in Milenge Milenge is more mature than Jab We Met. They look so much in love. And Shahid is the best romantic hero we have in the film industry, he might have done a Kaminey but that doesn’t change his chocolate boy looks and lover boy image!

How do you think audience will react to seeing Kareena like she was five years back minus the size zero?
I think Kareena looks prettier when she had a bit of weight. She is looking her best in my film and last heard she is now again trying to gain some weight. So I feel Kareena looks as real in my film as she looks now.

There have been reports in the media that Kareena is unhappy with the promos suggesting that she is back with Shahid. Are these true?
Not at all. The reported article never had any quote from Kareena suggesting that she had problem with the promos. And if she had a problem she would have talked about it. Any publicity is good for the film even if they are rumours without an iota of truth.

So, recession can be blamed for the film’s late release?
Yes, in a way. As recession ended, Boney Kapoor had to concentrate on Wanted.

Shahid and Kareena have not promoted the movie neither have the accompanied you for the promotion. Do you think both of them are staying away from the promotions?
Not at all. In fact, we decided the release date a few months back and both Kareena and Shahid had already given their dates for outdoor shooting a year ago. Kareena is with Saif shooting in Morroco and Shahid is out in Edinburg, we can’t expect them to dump their schedule just for promotions. And nowadays, some stars go everywhere in the name of promotion and still the movie is a damp squib. Stars promoting the film or not is not important. Content has to be the king for a movie to strike a chord with the audience.

What’s your take on the music?
The music is fantastic and it’s doing really well. ‘Tum Chain ho karar ho’ is my favourite song, the audience will see a great compatibly between Shahid and Kareena.

Do you think ‘Milenge Milenge’ would be able to stand against Red Alert, which is an internationally acclaimed movie?
I don’t feel insecure about the movie. Both the films have a different concept and I feel that love stories are always appreciated. It’s a youth centric movie with family values, entertainment and lots of love and people will really enjoy watching it.

Should Kareena and Shahid patch up?
It’s there personal decision; we just share a professional relation with them so I really don’t want to comment on it.

Will the audience see Satish Kaushik on the small screen again?
I’m just waiting for some good opportunities like a judge at a reality show (he laughs).

Bebo trench Lolo for Saif.

After all the hue and cry about how she has to spend a few hours with sister Karisma Kapur on her birthday (June 25), Kareena found herself in Morocco shooting with Saif Ali Khan for Agent Vinod.

The actress admitted that she proposed but God disposed. Said Bebo, “What could I do? My date schedule is so tight I couldn’t manage to delay my trip even by a few hours. Anyway, I’m glad that Lolo has a full family around her on her birthday.

She has her husband and two kids. I’ll just have to make do with calling her from there and singing happy birthday didi.”

It’s a problem affecting the music industry and also Bollywood. With songs of albums and movies easily available online, their profits have already been affected. The latest is that the songs of the Shahid Kapoor-Kareena Kapoor starrer Milenge Milenge are available online, ahead of the film’s music release. But filmmakers, says the film’s director Satish Kaushik, can do little about it.

On Sunday night, Satish’s friend, GS Walia, who lives in the US, chanced upon a website offering the film’s music for downloading. “I got to know about it through him. It’s atrocious. This is such a big crime. The music industry has already suffered a lot because of this,” Satish rues. But he also says that it is impossible to find the source. “From what I have found out, it is impossible to find the original server; as in, the one from where this has originated, for this is now available on multiple websites. I feel helpless. Pirated films are available online and music is more accessible than movies. The film fraternity has not yet been able to do anything to combat piracy of films,” he explained.

As of now, he is trying his best to coordinate with the music company and getting to know the whole procedure. Until then, he remarkes, “This does not happen down South. You can’t even get pirated CDs in the South till at least six months after the movie’s release, leave alone illegal downloading of movies or music.” With the music available so easily, any chances of the movie also being available ahead of its July release? “Not really. We are trying our best to find out what can be done,” he says.
